Purpose of the
Federation of Neighborhood Associations (FONA)

The specific purpose of this corporation is to: (from the Articles of Incorporation)

1. Promote, create, support, protect and maintain optimum living conditions for all residents of Nevada County by the cooperative and constructive action of the various neighborhood associations in Nevada County.

2. Advance and increase public awareness, recognition and appreciation of the rights and responsibilities of the residents of Nevada County. To encourage and assist them to individually and collectively initiate and pursue responsible actions in community affairs which will effect an improved quality and condition of life for all inhabitants of Nevada County. To generate and sustain a sound public opinion regarding the valid functions and assigned responsibilities of local government, and to stimulate an increased awareness of the obligations and the benefits of a well-informed and united citizenry.

3. To promote goodwill, understanding and mutual respect between neighbors, business people, community leaders, local government representatives and all other residents of Nevada County who may, at one time or another, hold divergent viewpoints regarding matters of common interest and concern.
